.Nottingham Post: Star-Studded Show Set To Be 'Biggest Panto Ever' at Theatre Royal

A new interview with Su, by the Nottingham Post, from yesterday's panto launch.

It's been called the greatest panto line-up the city has ever seen – and two of the main stars of Peter Pan were at the Theatre Royal to launch this year's glittering production.

Nottingham legend Su Pollard turned up in full Magical Mermaid regalia with her trademark glasses alongside Blue Peter presenter Barney Harwood as the boy who never grew up.

Meanwhile Baywatch and Knight Rider megastar David Hasselhoff, who's set to play the villainous Captain Hook, sent a message for fans from his home in Los Angeles.

After last year's record-breaking success with Cinderella, which was seen by some 60,000 people, the theatre is expecting an even bigger box office smash in 2013 – with 20,000 tickets already booked.

It may be half a year away, but today marks the launch of Nottingham's star-studded version of Peter Pan at the Theatre Royal this coming Christmas.

The city's very-own Su Pollard is playing the role of the Magical Mermaid when it opens in December. Although unable to attend the launch, David Hasselhoff – who's playing Captain Hook – sent a message of his own.

Superbreak: Baywatch Star to Appear in Nottingham Panto: Hasselhoff, a man famed for a career that has included parts in the likes of 'Baywatch' and 'Knight Rider', is going to be appearing in this show, alongside Su Pollard, the voice of vintage TV cartoon favourite 'Penny Crayon' and Barney Harwood from CBBC.

The Stage: Theatrical trivia, fun and quotes of the week, by Mark Shenton: Best Facebook anecdote of the week - An agent was in a line for drinks behind Su Pollard at a press night recently and the waiter went to serve someone else. The agent says: “Actually, I think Su Pollard was first” to which Su Pollard replies: “Thank you, although I am in fact Jenny Eclair."

Theatre Royal Nottingham: Saturday 7th December - Sunday 12th January

The Theatre Royal Nottingham has announced a star-studded cast for the region's biggest pantomime, Peter Pan, which runs from Saturday 7 December 2013 to Sunday 12 January 2014.

Leading the cast is international star David Hasselhoff, aka The Hoff, who is best known for his iconic roles as Michael Knight in Knight Rider and Mitch Buchanan in Baywatch. David, who stars as pantomime's ultimate baddie Captain Hook, says he's thrilled to be heading to Nottingham.

Adding a touch of sparkle to the pantomime in the role of the Magical Mermaid is television and stage favourite Su Pollard - best known for playing the loveable Peggy in the 80s sitcom Hi-de-Hi! As an actress, singer, writer and comedienne Nottingham-born Su has enjoyed a career spanning 40 years. Her other notable career highlights have seen her appear in You Rang, M'lord?, Oh, Doctor Beeching! as well as hugely-successful stage productions of Annie, Little Shop of Horrors and Sweet Charity.

Joining David and Su on stage in the title role of Peter Pan is children's television star Barney Harwood. Barney started his career at the age of 17 in the boy band Goal and made the move into presenting two years later on the popular music show Planet Pop. He joined CBBC as a presenter and in 2007 won the Children's BAFTA for Best TV Presenter.

Peter Pan is produced by Qdos Entertainment, the world's largest pantomime producer, and has the Theatre Royal's hallmark of outstanding value-for-money and entertainment for all ages.

A vicar called out “Hi-de-Hi!” at the funeral of sitcom legend Paul Shane – and was met by 500 mourners booming back: “Ho-de-Ho!”

Su Pollard, who played dizzy Peggy in the show, said: “Every day he was a laugh. We’re just here to say, ‘Tara babe thanks for everything.’ There’s definitely an up feeling rather than doom and gloom.”
