Ghost hunter strangled by spirit in Toyah Willcox’s Pershore home

A ghost hunter was left gasping for air by an evil spirit in the Worcestershire home of 80s icon Toyah Willcox.

In scenes filmed for a new series, Celebrity Help! My House is Haunted, paranormal expert Barri Ghai was seemingly strangled whilst carrying out an investigation in the attic of Willcox’s Pershore home. Ghai was joined by colleagues Ian Shaw and Jayne Harris, who had set up a special ‘REM’ recording device in the attic.

The team were trying to speak with a ghost named George, which they believed to be a soldier who fought during the English civil war in the 1600s.

Worcester News: Singer Toyah Willcox Postpones Tour Dates

Singer Toyah Willcox has had to postpone tour dates including Worcester because she is unwell.

The 63-year-old It’s a Mystery singer revealed to fans that she had tested positive for covid so would have to reschedule four dates to 2022.

Pershore’s Toyah was due to perform at Huntingdon Hall on Saturday (November 20) but has not rescheduled for Saturday, January 15 next year.

In a video, she said: “Firstly, I want to let you know I’m okay I’ve tested positive for covid.

“Last night during soundcheck at the Robin in Wolverhampton. I realised I’d lost my sense of taste and my sense of smell. I took three tests on the spot and two were positive and one was negative which led to a lot of discussions about whether the show could go on.”

And now she has a date at the Evesham Arts Centre, which is great news for her local fans.

A spokesman said: Toyah is a uniquely gifted performer. Charismatic, outspoken and impossible to categorise, she is one of Britain’s iconic household names – an award-winning rock legend as well as a much-loved stage and screen actress and music composer.

Toyah will perform an unplugged set of her well-loved hits and classic songs – and recalls stories from her colourful career.

Worcester News: Pershore’s Toyah on Through The Keyhole

worcsnews13bPershore appeared on prime time TV this weekend as Through the Keyhole explored the home of town resident, Toyah Willcox. The 80s singer and voice of the Telly Tubbies lives in the centre of the town in a large Georgian home. She became the latest victim of funny man Keith Lemon as he explored her large home, which she shares with husband Robert Fripp.

He originally filmed the segment back in May, when he was spotted in Pershore by some locals.

Worcester News: Punk Icon Toyah Willcox To Join Rock Choir

worcsnews13bPunk icon Toyah Willcox will become an honorary member of the UK’s largest contemporary choir next week.

The actress and singer will visit a Rock Choir session at Pitmaston Primary School, Malvern Road, Worcester, on Tuesday, June 24 at 8pm ahead of joining the choir for a special performance at the Birmingham Symphony Hall on Saturday, July 19.

The Birmingham show will be used to raise funds for the Teenage Cancer Trust after the choir was inspired by the multi-million charity efforts of Stephen Sutton.

Worcester News: Family Festival Planned For Upton

Plans are coming together to make the third Upton Music Festival more of a family affair. The event returns to Fish Meadow from Friday to Sunday, August 23-25 with more incentives for families and traders to get involved.
 
Acts already confirmed include Bucks Fizz, Alexander O’Neal and local celebrity Toyah Willcox, as well as a DJ set from Pat Sharp, while a grand firework display will bring the celebrations to a close for the whole town at 9.15pm on the Sunday.

Toyah Live 2013: Upton Music Festival

Another new live date for Toyah. She is playing the Upton Music Festival, taking place over the August Bank Holiday weekend (23rd-25th).

The festival, now in its fourth year, will have two stages and numerous events and activites. The festival site is located at Fish Meadow, Upton upon Severn, Worcestershire. Other bands playing include Slade, China Crisis, Bad Manners, The Troggs and The Lambrettas.

‘I feel so much better, – I have more energy, my brain’s more alert’

“When I was young I just regarded not sleeping as a fantastic way to pack more into my days. I always reasoned that life’s so short, it seemed crazy to waste it sleeping,” she says.
 
But eventually it turned into a “nightmare”, raising her stress levels and making her vulnerable to worry.

She’s talking at her London home – she also has a home in Pershore – about the tricky path which has now led to a transformation in her sleep – and it’s thanks to acupuncture.

TV presenter Clare Balding and pop icon Toyah Willcox shared their love of the countryside when they met up for a chat at Worcestershire beauty spot.
 
The pair met up at Croome, near Upton, when Ms Balding brought he popular Radio 4 programme ‘Ramblings’ to the National Trust property today. The chat with Ms Willcox, who is a regular visitor to Croome, will be broadcast at 3pm on Thursday, February 28 and repeated the following Saturday at 6am.

Worcester News: Park Is Toyah’s First Choice

Punk princess Toyah Willcox has named Croome Park, near Pershore, as her favourite place to walk.

The actress and singer, who lives in Pershore, named the historic landscape park as her top spot as its owners the National Trust launched a nationwide search to discover the country’s Ten Greatest British Walks.

She said: “Croome Park is just absolutely stunning. It’s designed yet you think you’re in natural countryside. You look out across these gentle rolling hills and you see wonderful monuments, follies and statues and the lake in particular is really lovely.”
