Exciting news - Su will definitely be appearing in Annie.

This has now been confirmed and Su will indeed be part of the show.

The publicity shots of Su, and other cast members, have been taken and the tour dates finalised.

Su will play the wicked Miss Agatha Hannigan, the drunken spinster who is in charge of the orphanage where young Annie resides. The score features several musical classics including "The Hard Knock Life", "Easy Street", "You're Never Fully Dressed Without A Smile" and of course "Tomorrow". The show was first seen in 1977 and went on to become a Broadway and West End smash.

6 June : Su Featured On RI:SE
RI:SE - 5th June 2002Su was featured on channel 4's new breakfast show, RI:SE yesterday. The programme that replaced The Big Breakfast last month.

They showed a clip of Su and friends in their hilarious "Lip Read" section...

"A charity event sees the meeting of Vic and Bob, Gloria Hunniford and Hi-De-Hi! veteran Su Pollard.

Su, Vic, Bob and GloriaSu throws a pink feather boa round her fellow celebs for a photo opportunity, but what does she say...?"

We'll leave that to your imagination, but this was a great clip.

Su was also mentioned last night by that cheeky Irish chappie, Graham Norton on his new five nights a week channel 4 chat show. We think Su would be a great guest on V Graham Norton.

Omnipresent isn't the word:)

6 June : Su in 2002 Update
Su Online now has more details of Su's plans for the remainder of 2002. Of course there is The Vagina Monologues, but so much more too...

Su will be seen in the short comedy film Looking for Lullabelle, playing Verity. This is scheduled for release at the end of July, and will be premiered at a major film festival.

Su may also be appearing in the musical Annie, on a short tour of the UK. If this goes ahead it will be from September until December.

Su also continues to record The Little Robots and will do so sproadically for the rest of the year. And Su will, of course, round off the year in panto.

More info in Su's Web Letter, here soon.

2 June : Su's Web Letter
Su's third web letter will be added to Su Online sometime this coming week. On this Jubilee holiday in the UK we will celebrate the 'Su'bilee instead!

Letter three is packed full of news and gossip from the pen of the lady herself and is not to be missed. Check back soon.

Su's Previous Web Letters.

I spoke to Su earlier this week and she asked me to say a huge "hi" and thanks each and ever one of you for taking the time to visit Su Online.

2 June : Frankly, Mr Skinner!
Heat - 1st June 2002Heat, the UK celeb magazine, has an interview with comedian Frank Skinner in their current issue.

This is a new weekly feature called "My Showbiz Life" in which a well known bod is questioned about, yes you guessed, their celebrity life!, Frank mentions Su in the course of his chat with Heat. He is asked:

Name one famous person you know has a crush on you?

Su Pollard. She said it in a questionnaire. But I didn't follow it up.

Um, yes Frank!!

2 June : Su In The Mirror's 'The Ticket'
The Mirror - 31st May 2002Su was pictured out and about enjoying herself in Friday's 'Daily Mirror'.

After touring the UK for almost a year with The Pirates Of Penzance, Su has been relaxing, taking life a little easier, enjoying herself and having some well earned fun!

Su was on the UK daily newspaper's '7 Nights' page, in their "The Ticket" weekly supplement. She is featured alongside Madonna, on the opening night of her West End debut in the play Up For grabs.

'7 Nights' columnist, Sam Mann, writes...

"To celebrate their 10th anniversary, celebrity booking agency Upfront TV threw a bash at Dial Bar in Covent Garden. As you'd expect, the place was packed with well-known faces such as Jayne Middlemiss, Jimmy Gulzar, Emma Forbes and Shauna Lowrie to name just a few.

Su @ Dial Bar - 23rd May 2002"My night was made when I bumped into Hi-De-Hi chalet maid Su Pollard. Wearing a miniscule skirt, leopard print sandals and heart shaped glasses, she was dressed to kill - just what, I wasn't quite sure. Oh, and did I forget to mention the pink hair and fabulous legs that would give Rod Stewart's girlfriend, Penny Lancaster, a run for her money?

Go girl...!

26 May : Su Interview - 'Rotheram Advertiser'
Rotheram AdvertiserSu was featured in the 'Rotheram Advertiser' last month. She gave them a short, but interesting,  interview...

Su's latest role is opposite Gary Wilmot in a version of the Gilbert and Sullivan classic The Pirates of Penzance.

"Rather than stick to the formulaic style of Gilbert and Sullivan, we're doing an updated version by this Amercian director called Joseph Papps," Su breathlessly bellowed. "He tried to make it more accessible, so there's lots of choreography and its a bit like a panto, the pirates are like the Lost Boys from Peter Pan." Su plays Ruth, the nursemaid to Wilmot's Frederick, who has been mistakenly indentured on a pirate ship for 21 years, while he was supposed to be apprenticed to a pilot. Of the characters, Su observed: "I think she fancies him, there's this underlying chemical thing but unfortunately he meets Mabel. She does get her man by the end though, everybody gets somebody. "When I started this, I was thinking 'I don't know Gilbert and Sullivan from anything else,' but don't be put off and don't consider it unapproachable high art. "We've been doing it since August now and everybody, even the purists, have enjoyed it."

26 May : Su Feature - 'Highbury & Islington Express'
Highbury & Islington ExpressSu was also featured recently in the 'Highbury & Islington Express'.

This feature, in Su's local paper,  looked at the interview Su gave 'The Sunday Times' in February of this year.

Zany Su makes a wise investment

I bought my house in Islington 20 years ago for £70,000. It seemed so much money at the time, but my accountant encouraged me to go ahead. It’s a town house on three floors, with a garage that is crammed with sheet music, stage costumes, old dolls, and rocking chairs.  Five years ago I managed to clear the whole mortgage when my endowment policy matured with a very nice payout of £65,000, so I was fortunate. I don’t know what it would be like for policy holders now.  I am pretty sure the value of my home is getting on for £500,000. It is near King’s Cross, which is being redeveloped.  I think in three or four years’ time the area will be a really good place to live.

Su Pollard in the Sunday Times February 3 2002.

26 May : Hi-De-Hi! Boxed Set
No concrete news available as yet on the forthcoming Hi-De-Hi! DVD/VHS Video boxed sets.

Su's friend Rob has been told that the set will consist of the first nine episodes from series one of the hit comedy.

More information when it is known.

26 May : Hi-De-Hi! On TV
Hi-De-Hi! - BBC2
Saturday 1st June - 5.15pm

Desire In The Mickey Mouse Grotto

BBC2 will be showing the second ever episode of Hi-De-Hi! on June 1st in the UK.

UK Gold and UK Gold 2 continue to reshow Hi-De-Hi! throughout the remainder of May and the month of June.

By early June the channel will reach series four.

Visit the Hi-De-Hi! page @ Nostalgia Central. They have a screen capture of Su (from Su Online) included there.

26 May : Harry Potter
As each Harry Potter book is now being made into blockbuster movies, it has been mentioned that Su would be perfect for the role of Professor Trelawny, the mad divination teacher. The character makes her first appearance in book three, so there is still plenty of time for Su's agent to ensure she bags a role.

Thanks to Sheena at The Su Pollard Shrine .

13 May : Post 'Pirates'
After the completion of the Pirates Of Penzance tour, Su has been relaxing, taking things easy and having a well deserved rest by the seaside.

Su will soon be treading the boards once more though. She will be appearing in The Vagina Monologues in London's West End in a matter of weeks. More info soon.

6 May : The Pirates Of Penzance - A Fond Farewell!
Su & Gary WilmotSu and the cast of The Pirates Of Penzance took their final bows on Saturday evening at the Sheffield Lyceum as the show completed its highly successful eight month tour.

Su has had a wonderful time with Pirates and is sad the end of the tour has arrived, not only because she has enjoyed being part of the show but also with having to say goodbye to the great friends she has made in the cast and crew.

Pirate King & Maid RuthSu played Pirate Maid Ruth in the production which opened on 8th August 2001 at the Open Air Theatre in Regent's Park. Since then the cast and crew of Pirates have visited 29 theatres around the UK on the hugely successful tour.

The stunning Joe Papp's version of the classic musical was Su's first foray into Gilbert & Sullivan, one she regards as a major departure from everything else she has undertaken in her varied career.

Pirates received rave reviews from The Times, Guardian and Financial Times, to name but a few.

The show attracted audiences of all ages and everyone who witnesses the colourful spectacle of The Pirates Of Penzance, and wonderful performances from the cast of the hit production, enjoyed it immensely.

Frederic and those girlsSu starred alongside Gary Wilmot as Pirate King, David Alder as the Major-General, Joshua Dallas as Frederic, Giles Taylor as Sergeant/Pirate, Karen Evans as Mabel, Sara Hillier as Edith, Alison Crowther as Kate, Eileen Hunter as Isobel, Catrin Darnell as Nora, Jamie Beamish, Steve Bradford, Rodger Dunklee, Howard Ellis, Dickon Gough, Andrew Hutchings and Ramin Karimloo as the Pirates/Policemen, and Sue O'Brien and Pierre Fabre as the sailors.

The Pirates Of PenzanceThere were hopes that the show would transfer to London's West End but a suitable theatre for such a production as Pirates isn't available at present. So, for the time being at least, Su and the gang have swashed their final buckle and ceased to sigh softly to that river. Adios!

We hope you like these rarely seen Pirates pics. Su Online's way of wishing everyone associated with show a fond farewell and best wishes for the future.

Coming Soon : Exclusive pictures taken by Su herself while touring with Pirates.

6 May : Su in 2002
Now that The Pirates Of Penzance is over what is Su doing for the rest of the year?...

: 'The Vagina Monologues' - Su will soon begin a short stint (approx 4-5 weeks) in this production at the Ambassador's Theatre in London's West End. More details as they are made available.

: Panto - Su will most certainly be treading the boards this Christmas in pantomime, as she has done for the last 20 years or so. Further information on this festive season's shenanigans will be on this very page as soon as they are known.

: TV - Su should be popping up in various shows throughout the remainder of 2002. Look out for The Little Robots, Songs Of Praise, as well as repeat showings of Hi-De-Hi!, You Rang M'Lord?, Penny Crayon and Gimme Gimme Gimme

Watch this space for further info...

1 May : 'Pirates' Final Week
Can it really be true?

Yes! The final week of The Pirates Of Penzance, at The Lyceum in Sheffield, has finally arrived. Su and the Pirates cast have travelled nationwide since opening at the Open Air Theatre, Regent's Park on 27th August.

Never fear, you haven't heard the last of those Pirates yet. This weekend Su Online will be showing some rarely seen cast pictures.

Su herself will be taking pictures after the cast's final performance on Saturday. We hope to be adding those exclusive pictures to Su Online sometime in the near future too.

1 May : Su in 'Daily Mirror'
'Daily Mirror' - 26th April 2002Su, Gary Wilmot and Joshua Dallas were featured in last Friday's (26th April) 'Daily Mirror.

Su's chance to hit the HI notes

Her vocal talents were woeful as yellowcoat Peggy. But Hi-De-Hi! star Su Pollard shows off what she can really do in Sheffield next week.

She joins Gary Wilmot in the Gilbert and Sullivan operatta Pirates Of Penzance for a week-long run.

The musical, which includes memorable tunes such as Poor Wandering One and I Am The Very Model Of A Modern Major General, shows just where Andrew Lloyd Webber got all his ideas from.
