Sat 31st March, 2007: Toyah newsy bits & pieces!
• Toyah will be at the 'Memorabilia 2007' event today and tomorrow, at the Birmingham NEC.

• Channel 5 celebrated its 10th Birthday yesterday with a selection of shows looking back over the last ten years. Toyah appeared very briefly in a clip from the, now defunct, Night Fever, during last night's I Blame The Spice Girls. The karaoke quiz show was presented by Sugg and ran from 1997 until 2002..

Deadline, the new "reality" show, hosted by Janet Street-Porter, begins on Wednesday 4th April, 10pm on ITV2 (repeated on ITV1 immediately after at 11pm). It's unlikely that Toyah will be part of this but on the offchance she is I thought I would mention it. [ Thanks to Paul Lomas ]

[ Teletubbies are 10! ]This weekend the Teletubbies are celebrating their 10th birthday. Toyah's voice, of course, can be heard on the intro/outro of the children's programme.

Despite ceasing making new programmes five years ago Teletubbies is still a huge worldwide success.

Ten years on and the arrival of Teletubbies is now recognized as a watershed moment in the history of preschool television.

[ Now Magazine ]Toyah Willcox's Choccaboker Glory

Try this delicious dessert from 80s rock-star-turned-actress Toyah

Ingredients: [Serves 4]
1 tub vanilla ice cream
75g/3oz raspberries
75g/3oz strawberries, hulled and quartered
50g/2oz redcurrants or blackberries
2tbsp caster sugar
6tbsp blackcurrant cordial or liqueur
1 bar white chocolate, grated, or 125g/4½oz white chocolate buttons, chopped
Dark chocolate curls, to decorate

Method:
1 Remove the ice cream from the freezer. Stir the fruit well into the sugar, then add the blackcurrant cordial. Leave to soak for 10-15 mins.
2 Mix the chocolate with the ice cream – if it goes too soft, pop it back into the freezer for 10 mins.
3 Take 4 tall sundae glasses and layer the ingredients, starting with the fruit mixture, then the ice cream. If you have any cordial left in the bowl, drizzle it over the top. Garnish with chocolate curls.

Weird, and quite random, Toyah reference of the month:

Amazingly it's 26 years ago that a wild, flame-haired Toyah appeared on our screens during Top of the Pops wailing “It's a mystery, it's a mystery” at us, and she might as well have been amongst the City faithful at Ninian Park last Saturday.

CELEBRITIES AND COLLECTABLES AT THE SPRING MEMORABILIA SHOW

The Memorabilia Show is back at The NEC on March 31 and April 1 this year celebrating the weird and wonderful worlds of TV, movies, sport, gaming and, new for this year, music. Hot on the heels of last year’s successful winter show, the support of the fans coupled with the fact that the show is now the longest established of its kind within the UK, means the weekend is shaping up to be another great one!

You don’t have to be a die hard Star Trek fan to enjoy this show – both fans of nostalgia and those who follow the latest TV shows flock to Memorabilia to pick up that special something!

Memorabilia always brings with it that star quality with major celebrities appearing to sign autographs, have photos taken, chat and share their stories. This year is no different. Over 50 celebrity guests from TV, the movies and the worlds of sport and music will pay a visit to the Show.

From the movies are Michael Madsen (Reservoir Dogs and Kill Bill), Jonathan Breck (Jeepers Creepers), Linda Harrison and Buck Kartalian (Planet of the Apes).

From the world of football, visitors can expect to see ex Arsenal players Ian Wright, Tony Adams and Charlie George as well as the ‘European Pele’ Eusebio, the 1967 Celtic European Cup winners and Nottingham Forest’s 1979 European Cup Winners. Boxing fans will have the opportunity to meet ‘Raging Bull’ Jake La Motta and ‘Hand of Stone’ Roberto Duran.

New to Memorabilia for 2007 is the music signings. Guests include Birmingham’s own Toyah Willcox and Rankin Roger, Coventry ‘rude boy’ Neville Staple (formerly of The Specials), Pauline Black aka The Selector, Ed Tudor Pole and Hazel O’Connor.

The Stage Zone, one of the most popular features within the show, is where visitors can interact with the celebrity guests. Each day there are different Q&A sessions, talks and screening – all are free to Memorabilia ticket holders. This is a great opportunity for visitors to ask their favourite guest that burning question!

Over 300 specialist dealers offer all manner of collectables and merchandise including DVDs, comic books, action figures and movie props – ranging from the very rare to the very latest. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, there will undoubtedly be someone at the show that can help you find it.

Book your tickets for this truly memorable show now!
