Toyah Willcox, the singer turned actress and keen gardener, is thrilled with her latest purchase: a 19th-century home near Nice, on the French-Italian border. She bought the two-bed place for about £500,000 a few months ago, and says that it has already risen in value by £50,000; she plans to renovate and add two more bedrooms. Willcox, 49, is coy about the precise location, saying only that it is “in a very old town overlooking a harbour”. “I didn’t mean to buy it, but it’s a property that’s so rare, I just had to have it,” she explains.
