The Post Punk Progressive Pop Party, in their "On this date in music history" feature, say: "On this date in 1980, Toyah released their third single, "Bird In Flight". It was backed by "Tribal Look". Neither song was included on an album in it's studio form (though both were captured live on Toyah! Toyah! Toyah!) until the combined Sheep Farming In Barnet/The Blue Meaning combination was released on CD which included both tracks as bonuses. The Birmingham, England post punk/new wave singer stepped away from music in 1987 to concentrate on her acting career but has resurfaced with her band in recent years."

'Top Twenty' was published in May 1982, with Toyah on the cover and a two-page feature, "Tireless Toyah wants to be free", inside. There is another 'Top Twenty' magazine listed here, that includes a Toyah article.

• Back To The 80s is the title of an article in today's Glasgow 'Evening Times' which reports on the two Eighties-inspired "festvals" taking place in Glasgow this Summer.

• Toyah is mentioned in a 'This is Leicestershire' news article about The Big Questions, the Sunday morning show she recently guested on.

• Toyah is also namechecked in a 'Daily Record' piece on Phil Daniels losing his iconic Quadrophenia coat.

He says: "This morning I received a very interesting photo, taken in Oct 1985 at the end of my first Guitar Craft course with Robert Fripp at Claymont Court in West Virginia. In Albrecht's first big deal since landing at IMG, Showtime has snapped up 20 half-hour episodes of "Call Girl." Skein, toplined by former "Doctor Who" star Billie Piper, was produced for ITV2 by Tiger Aspect, a leading Brit production company owned by IMG.

First eight episodes of "Call Girl" will air this summer. Second season of 12 segs begins lensing in Blighty next year. Greenblatt said he sees "Call Girl" -- which gave ITV2 its best ratings of the year -- as a cross between "Sex and the City" and "Californication."

"It has a great sensibility to it," he told Daily Variety. "It's more emotional than you think it's going to be. It's sexy and funny, but there's other stuff going on.

"Call Girl" has Piper playing a character with dual lives. By day, she's a legal secretary named Hannah; at night, she morphs into high-class hooker Belle.

Samworth Academy, in Saffron Lane, hit national headlines this week after a funeral was held at a church next to the building while pupils were in lessons.

On Sunday, the BBC1 show, The Big Question, hosted by Nicky Campbell, will be filmed at the Trenant Road school.

The live programme will include debates on Islam, contacting the dead and whether children should have a father figure. The show's panel will include the Bishop of Leicester Tim Stevens and singer and actress Toyah Willcox.

Series editor Jill Robinson said the issue of the funeral being held at the school, was nothing to do with the show being filmed at the academy. She said: "We filmed the show at the school back in November and it had very good facilities so we thought we would come back again.

"It was decided weeks ago. It is just a coincidence the school has been in the news this week.

"The issue of a funeral being held at the school is not something we would talk about on the show as that is a local issue."

Phyllippe Aaron, president of the Vaughan Way Spiritualist Church, in Leicester, will also be on hand to help answer the question: "Should we talk to the dead?" during the hour-long show.

Toyah Willcox, star of "I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!", and husband Robert Fripp, a former rock star, have written in support of campaigners who marched in Pershore on Saturday to campaign for the return of good old-fashioned Christmas lights.

Toyah wrote to campaign organisers: "Both myself and my husband are very concerned that Pershore's Christmas lights are returned to the brilliant example of earlier years.

"We would love to see the Christmas lights restored to include the whole High Street and Bridge Street."

The march attracted about 60 people as campaigners carrying banners reading "Don't Give Us A Ghost Town" and "Bring Back Our Lights" made their way from the Pershore Bridges car park to the Civic Centre in Queen Elizabeth Drive to roars of support from traders who have had a difficult year following the floods.

Organiser Trudy Burge, 38, was joined on the march by son Aaron, 12, and daughter Tori, nine, as well as their friends, twins Lynda and Sue Forse, both nine, and Becky Williams, also nine.

Mrs Burge of Church Street, said: "We're over the moon to have Toyah's support. It's really nice to hear from someone in the public eye who feels as strongly about this as the rest of us. These lights light up people's lives - it's important."

Pershore Town Council decided not to put up the Christmas lights after health and safety tests deemed the buildings not strong enough to hold their weight.

The town council has agreed to put an allowance in next year's budget to carry out tests to see if the lights can be brought back. Mrs Burge, born and bred in the town, said councillors would pay through the ballot box if the lights were not twinkling this Christmas.

She added: "People are sick and fed up - they are really cross about this now. The old display was so unique and breathtaking."

The protest march began at Pershore Bridges on Saturday (5) morning with only a small amount of people, but as the group approached the town centre more and more people joined.

By the time they had reached their destination, at Wychavon Civic Centre, the group was made up of more people than organiser Trudy Burge, had ever expected.

She said: "When we were about to set off there were only around six of us there and I thought, oh no, it's just going to be me waving a board around. But as we approached the town these people came out of nowhere to join us.

"I was leading at the front and when I looked back and saw how many people were supporting us I could have cried. All the traders were outside their shops waving at us and we even had Pershore councillor Jane Daniels with us so that was fantastic."

The march ended up at the district council offices, where leader of the council Paul Middlebrough met the group. Pershore celebrity Toyah Willcox also supported the march, despite being in panto in Reading, by sending a good luck message to the protestors.

Pershore Town Clerk, Ann Dobbins, explained that anchor points on town buildings failed a pull test in 2006, making it unsafe to string lights across the street.

She said: "The council has the intention, the wish and the finance to restore the lights but the buildings to which the anchor points are fixed are unsuitable.

"Council agrees that the current decorations are not as they would wish but we are sure the town would not wish to see no lights at all.

At this time of year, I always do panto, which does wonders for my figure. This year, I'm playing Jack in Jack and the Beanstalk at the Hexagon in Reading and we do two shows a day most days. I get so fit on stage and want to keep it up afterwards.

I have very sensible eating habits and my tip is the most basic and simple law in the world: do not eat more calories than you can burn. I find it staggering that people don't get that. Because I'm going to hit 50 next year, I have a sensible breakfast of green tea and a bowl of bran flakes, and a good lunch such as a piece of salmon with spinach and fruit. I drink water all day, allow myself one more cup of tea and then I'll have a bowl of soup in the evening and a bowl of cereal before going to bed. No one can sleep if they are hungry and you need carbohydrates to help you relax.

I only allow myself 1,500 calories a day because that's all I need. If I go over that, I put on weight. I have worked that out for myself. I believe you can look better and better as you get older. I think people who go on about age being a bad thing are people who have lost their figures. If you can stay fit and slim, life is far more enjoyable.
