| I first
thought about creating a website
in late 1998, spent a few months
of 1999 wondering what I could
base it on/around before deciding
on Toyah. There were already some
good Toyah websites online but I
felt there was room for a news
resource that could be updated
regularly. Not very interesting
Intergalactic Dreamscape Factoid:
I briefly thought about calling
the website... ToyahLand!!
Dreamscape, Version
One (below left), went online and
live on 10th March 2000:

Version One had a
News page, Discography, Gallery,
Live History etc, as well as
"Remember", the section
that looked back at specific
years from Toyah's career.
The initial response
was very positive and quite
immediate. I received a lot of
emails in the fortnight or so
following the site going online,
with many kind comments.

Dreamscape Version
Two, a completely redesigned (and
even if I say so myself, much
more professional looking and
user-friendly) website replaced
the original in April 2002.
The website, located
at www.toyahdreamscape.co.uk
(thanks John & Dom) was
expanded, with larger Gallery,
Article Archive, Video Stills,
Televison/Film/Stage pages, and
"Captured" section with
hundreds of Toyah screen captures
to browse.

The new version also
had various logos, so the site
was always changing and
evolving.
Site visitors
steadily grew and grew too and in
March 2003 the first Dreamscape
Forum opened.
Unfortunately this
had to close after only a few
months but a new Forum was opened
a year later in March 2004. The
Dreamscape Forum (as it's called)
was and, indeed, is a place to
"Tawk About
Toyah!"
The Forum is now
three years online and we have
over 400 members and thousands of
posts about Toyah (and more) to
browse.

Over the years
Dreamscape has received a few
accolades and awards of its own.
The site has done really well
each year in the the 'BT Digital
Music Awards'. Late last year, in
the sixth consecutive year of
entering, the site placed at
number 95, the highest yet.
In November 2002
'WebUser' magazine ran a feature
on Dreamscape. The site was given
the WebUser - Seal Of Approval in
the issue (number 44, 14 - 27
November 2002). At that time the
magazine was the UK's
best-selling internet
publication.
Dreamscape was also
voted "Celebrity Site of the
Day" at Christmas 2002. The
following day the site received
over 1000 unique visitors.
The website has even
received acknowledgement and a
message from Toyah herself!

Whenever Toyah has
done anything
"high-profile", such as
I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of
Here!, the Calamity Jane UK
theatre tour, the 2002 'Here
& Now' Tour or similar,
Dreamscape always receives far
more "hits".
In 2003 Dreamscape
relocated to the domain
www.toyah.net.

In January 2006
Dreamscape Version Three was
launched, and as before this was
a completely re-designed
website.
The site content was
simplified slightly and the
Latest News was now available on
the website Index/Entry
Page.
The Discography was
removed (as there is a fantastic
one available at the Official
Toyah website -
www.toyahwillcox.com). An
interesting addition was the
Downloads section (this wouldn't
exist without the invaluable help
of Andi Westhorpe - Thanks Andi).
And again the Gallery has been
massively expanded.

Dreamscape has
continued to "evolve"
over the years, with special
additions, including a huge
section dedicated to Toyah's 'The
Changeling' album and a section
celebrating Toyah's 50th birthday
in May 2008. The few days around
Toyah's birthday saw Dreamscape's
most popular period, with
thousands of people visiting the
site.

Dreamscape was
created, designed and is
maintained by me, David. I'm
based just outside Glasgow in
Scotland and have been a Toyah
fan since late 1980. My favourite
Toyah album is 'The
Changeling'.
I want to say a
massive THANK YOU to everyone who
has helped with Dreamscape since
March 2000, as well as everyone
who has taken the time to
visit.
